Win Grant Funding So You Can Make An Even Bigger Impact

Grant Writing & Research Support for Earth-First Businesses & Nonprofits

Let’s take a second and consider how you want you, your business or nonprofit to impact the world.

When you’re deep in the trenches of running your organization in the day-to-day, the effort and strategy required to craft a winning grant application gets put on the back burner.

But without adequate funding, your mission is stalling. And the impact you wanted to have on your community (and the planet) isn’t happening.

Instead of using up your valuable (and, let’s be honest, limited) time on fundraising, hand the reigns over to someone who enjoys the process of applying for grants. Someone who has experience and is good at it, too.

Grant writing support can serve as a bridge between your big, impactful vision and the funding required to turn that vision into reality.

With a trusted grant writing partner on your team, you can:

  • Reduce the overwhelm of trying to wear all the hats. Running a nonprofit (or business) is hard work. I’ll walk you through each step and clarify exactly what’s needed and what I can support you with so you don’t feel overwhelmed
  • Confidence in your application. No more second-guessing what to write or include–because you’ll feel confident that your research-backed proposal will make a strong case to grant funders.
  • Increase competitiveness. Stop haphazardly applying for any and all grants. Find the best-fit funding opportunities and submit a proposal filled with research-backed information and perfectly aligned project goals.
  • Get back to the work you enjoy. Grant research and writing is time-consuming. Leave it to the experts so you get back to the work you do best.

I’m Ashley and I partner with change-makers like you to find the best grants and write competitive proposals so you can fund your mission, serve your community and get back to the work you love.

“She was incredibly helpful to our team and produced excellent work.”

Ashley came at the busiest time possible, as we prepared to reopen the gallery after a major capital redevelopment. She fitted in straight away and had to work very much using her own initiative. Ashley was asked to do research work and to produce reports looking at funding opportunities for the gallery. She wrote fundraising applications and assisted with several others. She also provided admin and research support. I always felt completely confident that whatever was asked of her would be undertaken to an excellent standard. She was incredibly helpful to our team and produced excellent work. I have no hesitation recommending Ashley for any job that anyone could ask her to do.

    • Seeking funding for social, environmental, or community-based initiatives
    • Pursuing grants to support growth, innovation, or sustainability efforts
    • Looking to fund public projects, research, or community programs
    • Dedicated to preserving and restoring the environment through conservation, sustainability, and awareness campaigns

Grant Writing Support Is NOT For You If You…

  • Are NOT an established business or nonprofit (think Tax ID #, EIN, IRS Affirmation Letter, etc.)
  • Do NOT have a clearly defined mission, vision, and values. I have fantastic recommendations for purpose-led businesses that can support you with this
  • Do NOT have a focus on social or environmental impact. Most funders want their money to make a positive impact, having a business that gives back in some capacity is a step in the right direction.
  • Do NOT have a strong financial foundation. Meaning, you have a solid budget, financial statements are in order, you’ve paid last years taxes, etc. Again, I have amazing bookkeeping recommendations to support you with this.
  • Have no idea how you would use the extra funding and are just applying for grants because it’s “extra money in the bank” (hint: it’s not). Having a *rough plan is okay! We can work with that

Are You ‘Grant Ready’? Find Out For Free

Before any research or writing begins, it’s important to determine if your purpose-led small business is ready to pursue grants. If you aren’t “grant ready,” you’re less likely to get funded.

You need to get your ducks in a row, so to speak, before you apply for anything.

Let’s make sure you’re goals and objectives are competitive, sustainable, and ready for funding.

HOW WE CAN WORK TOGETHER

Grant Support Services

When it comes to grants, there are so many moving pieces, including prepping, researching, collating information, writing, editing and managing funding.

Let’s just say there is a reason grant and development positions are listed on job boards. It’s a big job! Depending on your organization, you might need a lot of grant support or just a little help to nail down a few elements.

  • Maybe you’re completely new to grants, and you need all the help you can get to get the ball rolling.
  • Maybe you’re a great writer, but you have no clue how to find grants to apply for.
  • Maybe you know exactly what grants you want to go for, but you have no idea where to start in the application process.
  • Maybe you just need an extra third-party set of eyes on everything before you press that submit button.

I can support you with any and all of that plus more!

FOUNDATION SUPPORT

For the business owners and nonprofits who are either just starting their funding journey or need a solid launching pad to get the momentum going

Get Grant Ready (Start Here!)

Before any research or writing begins, it’s important to determine if your organization is ready to pursue grants. If you aren’t “grant ready,” you’re less likely to get funded.

You need to get your ducks in a row, so to speak, before you apply for anything.

Let’s make sure you’re goals and objectives are competitive, sustainable, and ready for funding.

Inside the ‘Get Grant Ready’, I’ll review your funding goals, your current setup, your mission and vision, and your financials and give you advice, insights, and actionable steps to make sure your foundations are strong and that you’re well positioned for applying to grants (we call this being “Grant Ready”).

You’ll walk away with a ‘Grant Ready’ Template + Hub filled with data-backed research, brand elements, financial documents, collated plug-and-play content to pull for your next application, and so much more.

Whether you’re new to funding or just setting up a new program, let’s make moves to get you prepared and “Grant Ready.”

Starting Price: $400

Turnaround: 1-3 weeks based on timely submission of necessary documents and information for evaluation

Funding Strategy Roadmap

Looking for a one-off package to take with you and implement yourself? You should consider the Funding Strategy Roadmap (FSP)!

Think of the FSR as your holistic approach to grant funding for your program or organization. You might have an uber impactful program concept or business model. Unfortunately, one grant won’t fund everything you need to monetary cover to change you want to see in the world. But several grants might.

The Funding Strategy Roadmap is a 12-18 month funding strategy to gain clarity on which grants to go after and when –all based on your goals, objectives, and timeline.

Inside this one document Roadmap, you’ll find out:

  • A detailed layout of what needs to be done before you’re ready to pursue grants
  • A list of highly researched best-fit grants you’re going to pursue and in what order
  • A roadmap to figure out how your organization will allocate resources

Here’s the thing: the FSP is most effective when supported by strong leadership. I can develop a strong roadmap for your organization, but if there’s zero follow-through and commitment to put this strategy in motion, it won’t work.

What to expect:

  1. Project Planning Session: We’ll meet 1:1 to help develop the “meat and potatoes” of your project and gather any information needed
  2. Funder Research & Outreach: We confirm eligibility, programmatic alignment, and competitiveness of each grant application to ensure you only apply to grants that offer the highest chance of return on investment. We’ll also provide strategies on how to make the most of your own funder outreach
  3. Funding Memorandum, Matrix, & Strategy: We’ll compile the results into a simple, easy-to-read memorandum and funding matrix with all the information you’ll need to begin the grant writing process

Price: $1200

Turnaround: 3-5 weeks based on project complexity

This hour can be whatever you need it to be. All you have to do is show up with a few questions or shorter documents and we can talk funding!

CORE SUPPORT

For the established businesses and nonprofits ready to hit the metaphorical ‘funding ground’ running

Grant Research

Once you have your foundations in place, it’s time to find some grants!

But we’re not going for each and every viable grant that pops up on the radar.  We want to find the most aligned funding opportunities that make sense for the mission and goals of your program/organization. We also want to find grants that give you a competitive advantage and have the highest likelihood of success!

There is no point wasting either of our time applying for grants with a less than 30% chance of winning.

Accessing subscription-based databases, I’ll pore over lists of thousands of possible grants before distilling the best-fit options down and developing a list of strong matches between funders and your organization. This report can stand alone for your own in-house use or as a jumping-off point for me to assist with grant writing.

Starting Price: $1,000 for 5-10 grant prospects detailing eligibility and actionable timeline.

Turnaround: 3-5 weeks based on project complexity

Grant Writing

Whether you’ve hired me for the Prospective Grant Research, FSP or you’ve come to me with a grant prospect list ready to go —with the supporting documents you provide, I’ll write a compelling and competitive grant proposal (and LOI if applicable) highlighting your organization’s goals, objectives and impact.

To effectively tackle the grant application process, I use a writing technique that combines the narrative storytelling of copywriting with meticulous attention to detail and a data-driving approach to ensure the vision for your project, program or organization is clearly and concisely conveyed to funders throughout your grant proposal.

You can expect support in:

– Developing and writing grant proposals, ensuring they are in line with the organization’s goals and objectives

– Clear language that aligns with your brand voice and a competitive angle based on data-driven research and thorough analysis of the funder’s requirement

– Collaboration with program managers and staff to gather necessary information for grant proposals (if necessary)

– Proofreading and editing grant proposals for clarity, accuracy, and adherence to guidelines

FOUNDATION, LOCAL AND PRIVATE GRANTS

Working closely with your staff, we complete your grant application, proposal, or letter of inquiry. In addition, we make sure it’s competitive and thorough.

FEDERAL AND STATE GRANTS

In a close partnership with your team, we lead the writing and submission of highly technical and involved government grants. After that, we ensure your narrative is strong. Finally, we verify that your entire application package meets the rigorous standards laid out by the agency.

Pricing:

Please note that grants are complex, time-consuming projects. Depending on the grant we’re pursuing, the work will vary. Some grants are complex 100+ hour team efforts, and others require a quick letter of inquiry (LOI) before finding out if we’re invited to submit a full proposal. Therefore, pricing is determined on a case-by-case basis based on the complexity of an application.

With that being said if your organization is ‘grant ready’ and all supporting documents are gathered and available prior to writing, a ballpark estimate of pricing would be divided between:

  • Straightforward local, private, or foundation grants: $750-$5000
  • Federal or complex state grants: $5000+

Grant Review (Unsubmitted Grants)

A second (and third) set of eyes goes a long way. An outsider’s perspective on your grant proposal? Even better.

With the Grant Review, I’ll review and/or proofread your grant proposals before you submit them, making sure your message is clear and that you’ve followed the grantmaker’s instructions to a T.

What I Can Review/Proofread:

  • RFPs/FOAs
  • Executive Summaries
  • Individual Donor Letters
  • Letters Of Interest
  • Grant Narrative Drafts

Pricing: Varies based on the grant type and size but expected starting price $250

Grant Revival & Renewal (Unsuccessful Grants)

Was your recent grant application unsuccessful? Hey, it happens! A lot.

Don’t let this set you back in your funding journey. Every grant you didn’t get is an opportunity to improve for the next funding cycle.

If you have a solid program or business, your application can be rewritten and reworked so that it meets the needs of a particular funder.  So grab that unsuccessful grant, and let’s look at it, learn from it, and move forward.

Inside Grant Revival & Renewal, I’ll offer insight into why you (likely) didn’t receive funding, what you can do to make your proposals more competitive, and what to watch out for in future grant applications so your efforts are met with more ‘Yes’s” and fewer “No’s.”

Consider this an audit or review of sorts. We’ll hop on a kick-off call to chat things out. Then, I’ll go away and review your unsuccessful grant. At the end of the day or week (depending on turnaround time), I’ll present you with a robust document filled with notes, suggestions, red flags, and more for you to apply to your next application reiteration.

Pricing: $500

Grant Management (Ongoing Support)

When you’ve won a grant, I can monitor and track the grant process and reporting requirements and write reports on the organization/program’s progress (if applicable). This includes communication tracking of prospective and current funders, gift confirmation and acknowledgment, and more.

  • Starting Price: $500 per month

Got Questions About Grant Writing?

I’ve got answers.

Can I pay you from a grant award/contingency?

Nope. It’s not considered an ethical use of funds to pay from awarded monies/contingency, nor is it allowed by funders. All of my grant support services are at a fixed rate agreed upon at the beginning of the project.

If I don't 'win' the grant, what am I paying for?

The grant writing and research in and of itself is a substantial deliverable. You can use the content in future grants, press releases, LOIs, website copy, blog posts, social media, and more. The research and studies used in your grant application build strong foundation for your organization to lever any future funding endeavors. While you might not “win” the grant this time, you will have solid, research-backed grant content that can be reused and repurposed.

Can you guarantee my organization will be awarded a grant?

Nope. The grant funder makes the final determination on who is and is not awarded a grant. I craft grant applications based on available information such as giving history, priorities, objectives, etc. While an award cannot be guaranteed, you will receive the highest quality research and a competitive proposal.

“Within the first two weeks of launching their website, they received more membership inquiries than they had in the last several months combined!”

We chose to work with Ashley because we are a part of the same core networking groups and our values are very much aligned as being fellow 1% For The Planet members and we now partner with like-minded copywriters to ensure that we deliver a website that is both written and designed in a strategic way.

Ashley approaches and works with our clients in such a compassionate way. Her writing style flows and she always does a great job capturing the underlying core values of a business or brand. Her ability to grasp their style and tone in a very strategic way and take VERY long form writing and make it clear and concise is wonderful!

One of our mutual clients said, “Within the first two weeks of launching their website, they received more membership inquiries than they had in the last several months combined!”

Investing in copy is one of the best decisions that you can make for your business because it allows you to attract more aligned clients and customers. Great copy can result in higher quality inquiries and people having a better understanding of what we stand for and believe in (our mission).

Overall, Ashley is very communicative, responsive and reliable when it comes to deadlines. We would absolutely recommend Ashley to others!

about ashley

Conscious copywriter for purpose-led organizations making ripples in the for-good space.

Want to change the world for the better? I’d love to support you!

After seeing clients trying to use persuasive tactics and marketing jargon that wasn’t aligned with their brand’s values, I knew something needed to change.

Using my years of academic experience, I researched, verified, and tested communication strategies that are centered around humans and values. And guess what? This method works!

When I see my brands and nonprofits winning in the for-good space by using copy that increases their presence, encapsulates their story, provides true value, and serves more goodness into the world – I consider this a win for the planet.

And it really just lights my fire.
